An update on Memphis Streetscapes

Memphis Streetscapes, one of our first digital collections, has been continuously growing since its inception in 2009.  (A big thank you to Alice Kendall, Dallas Burkhardt and David Gildart for all of their hard work to add to the collection!)

Initially, Memphis Streetscapes was the digital home for images from the existing Memphis and Shelby County Room Photograph Collection, but now we are beginning to add images that have never before been available to the public.

Thanks to Josh Whitehead, Planning Director and Secretary of the Memphis and Shelby County Board of Adjustment, we now have never-before-seen images from the 1930s through the 1970s.  These photos were submitted to the Board of Adjustment as part of the appeals process and provide some uniquely wonderful images of Memphis that we hope you will appreciate.
